The truth is that I have messed up. The truth is also that I have asked God to forgive me and He has. The further truth is that I’m allowing Satan to keep me from forgiving myself.
Sure there are consequences for my actions, but those consequences need not include berating myself and becoming so mired in my own self-loathing that I become no good to anybody else.
The truth is that whom the Son sets free is free indeed.
Therefore I am free.
I am free to try again.
I am free to apologize.
I am free to accept it when my apology isn’t accepted.
I am free to fail again.
I am also free to succeed.
That’s the truth.
