God, for all of those who are mourning, bless them. Encourage them. Strengthen them. Comfort them. Let them know it’s ok to grieve. Help them to feel what they’re feeling. Reassure them that they don’t have to live up to anyone’s expectations for how they should grieve. And when grief swells up days, weeks, months, and years after their profound loss, keep them mindful that this is normal. And if grief doesn’t well up in them in ways they feel like it should, remind them that we all mourn differently. Show their friends and loved ones how to support them, and encourage them to allow the support they’re given. Be with them as only You can, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
