I was watching a home show, and the host talked about how to dress open shelving. The first thing she did was buy antique books to cluster on the shelves.
Wait. People don’t have books to put on their shelves? I honestly didn’t know that was a thing. I have more books than I have shelves.
I realize I have an extraordinary amount of books. I understand not everyone has books stacked on top of each other on the shelves and the floor and the desk and…. Let’s just say if you leave me alone with a flat surface for long enough, I will stack books on it. Even if it’s not completely flat, I’ll still stack books on it, albeit precariously.
So it never once crossed my mind to buy old books just because they coordinated with my decor. Tell me that only happens on design shows and not real life.
