I’m not ready to be a grandparent.
There are, of course, some obvious reasons for this. The first that comes to mind is that my children aren’t even teenagers yet. I’m perfectly happy to wait for them to grow up and marry before making me a grandmother. That will give me some time to prepare.
And I certainly need to prepare.
Have you ever talked to grandparents? They are hard core. They have raised large families on nothing, participated in protests, served as spies, broken glass ceilings, smashed gender and race barriers, created amazing art, started businesses, created entire professions, and bested physics (how else do you explain walking to school uphill both ways?) And that’s just a sampling of the awesomeness of grandparents.
I have a lot to live up to. At least I have some time.
