People who suck your time, your energy, and your essence and never give you anything in return but come back regularly to continue sucking the life out of you are not your friends. They are vampires.
People who love your mind so much they constantly pick your brain for their own benefit but never ask you what’s on your mind or want to hear your ideas simply to learn more about you are not your friends. They are zombies.
People who urge you to go against your convictions and instill you with self-loathing, fear, and anger are not your friends. They are Sith lords.
People who are kind and gentle and caring by day but rip your heart out when the lights go out or with random changes in environment are not your friends. They are werewolves.
Friendship is difficult, complex, and complicated. It involves trust and vulnerability and truth. Most importantly, friendship requires love. Love means caring for your friend more than you care for yourself – wanting the best for that person at all times. Friends aren’t perfect. Sometimes they act like vampires, zombies, Sith lords, and even werewolves, but if that is the only way they act, never caring for you, your needs, and your interests, then you need to reassess the friendship.
