Everything lasts for a season.
The trouble is that you never know how long a season is going to last. Life seasons aren’t nearly as predictable as the annual turn from winter to spring to summer to fall. No, one life season may last years, or you may go through several life seasons in a year.
You may think you have turned the corner into a new season but what you realize is that it’s the same season cleverly disguised as a new job or a new relationship.
Or you may think you’re still in a particular season until one day you wake up and realize that you’ve been in a new season for so long it’s almost passe.
The consistent things about life seasons are that seasons always end and you are always in a season.
I like to use the end of the year to reflect on the seasons of my life. I do this by reviewing my journal entries and blog posts. I learned that in the past few years I’ve experienced several seasons and that seasons can overlap. I didn’t realize prior to my reflection that I could be in multiple seasons simultaneously, but apparently I can. I didn’t know I was strong enough to handle that, but apparently I am.
Here’s to a new year with new seasons.
