Dear Electricity,

I’m a huge fan of yours.  I couldn’t write this blog without you.  Let’s be honest; my entire way of life would crumble without you.  I can’t imagine a world without seemingly unlimited electricity at my fingertips.

And I think that’s the problem.  I’ve been taking you for granted.  I always expect you to be there for me whenever I’m ready to use you.  But I never give you anything in return.

I try to respect your power.  I try to avoid being around you when I’m in contact with a conductor.  But the ease and convenience of using you has led to my occasional carelessness.

You haven’t zapped me recently, but you did get my sister-in-law today.  She was fine.  Your anger was minor, but the reminder was real.

No matter how easily I can access you, I need to be ever-vigilant in my pursuit of you.

Treading lightly,
