I’ve been embracing the power of today this academic year by trying to live the words of Matthew 6:34 (NIV): “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
I can’t worry about tomorrow because I have too many things to tend to today. And that is not just a platitude. I haven’t the time, energy, or inclination to worry about what tomorrow will bring because today keeps me plenty busy. Now of course, I plan and look to the future, but worry about the next day? I am way too busy today.
So when I find myself bemoaning all of the things piling up in my life, I have to remind myself that through the endless demands I’m facing, God is showing me how to live His word.
And I have to be thankful for that.
