I never know what sorts of things are on The Boy’s mind. That kid is full of surprises.
TB: Mommy, what would you do if you had six billion kids?
Me: Uh, I suppose I’d be very tired. That’s a lot to think about. That’s a lot of kids. I don’t think any one person can have six billion kids.
TB: Well, what is the most number of kids you would want to have? Is it two?
Me: I want to have as many kids as God blesses me with. Having two is great, and would be great to have 3 or 7 or 6 billion. However many kids He gives me is the exact number of kids I want to have.
TB: But what if He blessed you with six billion kids?
Me: Well, then I guess I’d be happy with that. But wow, that is a whole lot of kids.
TB: How would you pay for all of them? For food and clothes? That would be a lot of money.
Me: Yes, that would be a lot of money, but if God gave me that many kids, I know He would give me a way to take care of them.
TB: Would you kill some of them?
Me: No! Would I kill some of them? Why would I kill some of them?
TB: Cuz that’s a lot of kids.
Me: If I had that many kids I would love every single one of them as much as I love you and your sister.
TB: You would?
Me: Of course I would. I love my kids; it doesn’t matter how many of them there are. Do you have any idea how much I love you?
TB: Sure. A lot.
Me: Pssshh! A lot? Whatever. A lot doesn’t even begin to cover how much I love you.
TB: A billion?
Me: Come on, kid. You’re going to have to do better than that.
TB: Six billion?
Me: Still not enough.
TB: Infinity?
Me: Well, at least you’re in the ballpark now.
TB: You love me infinity? And my sister, too?
Me: Of course I do. It’s what I do.
He walked off looking a little puzzled and mumbling something about six billion times infinity.

I love this. I think you just blew his mind with love, and that is a beautiful thing 🙂
Thank you, Jenni. I pray he remembers this when he’s older.
Now THAT’s infinity!
Jeannie, you are cracking me up! I wish I knew why The Boy wants so many siblings. Maybe having just one sister doesn’t give him enough of an audience for his comedic stylings.
