I’m the Boss

Scene: In the car on the way home from gymnastics practice.

The Girl: Ooohh look.  A crescent moon.
The Boy: Oh yeah look.  A crescent moon.

Inspired by the shining crescent, The Girl breaks into song.  The song begins with a lilt and ends on an operatic note, with all of the attendant drama demanded by that genre.

TG: When the sun is sleep, the moon is out.  When the moon is out the sun is sleep.  The sun, the sun, is happy, yes it’s happy, when the moon is sleeping.  The moon, the moon, is happy, yes it’s happy when the sun is sleeping.  But maybe the sun can be happy when she is sleeping and the moon is high!  Or it would be cool if the moon is happy when she is sleeping and the sun high!
TB: The sun and moon aren’t females.
TG: Yes they are.
TB: How do you know?  You don’t know if the sun and moon are women or girls.
TG: They are because I want them to be.
TB: They’re not want you want them to be because you want them to be.
TG: Yes they are.
TB: Well, how about the sun can be a woman and the moon can be a man.  Then if the sun is a woman, then you can be the boss of the day cuz you’re a girl.  And I can be the boss of the night, cuz I’m a boy.
TG: I will be the boss of the day and the night because the moon only reflects the sun’s light.  It needs the sun to shine at all.  So, I’m the boss shining all day and all night.
