The Girl: It’s my turn!
The Boy: No. I only had it for a few minutes.
TG: It’s been more than a few minutes.
TB: No. It’s just been a few minutes. You didn’t even want to do math, anyway.
TG: Well, I do now. It’s my turn. Give me the abacus!
TB: No! It’s my abacus! I had it first!
TG: It’s not your abacus! It’s both of ours. We have to share!
TB: I’m still doing my math. I need the abacus.
TG: But it’s my turn. Give me the abacus!
<A brief tussle over the abacus ensues>
Me: Children, either share the abacus or I’m putting the math packet away.
TB & TG: Yes, ma’am.

I just love the fact it’s an abacus, and math ey are fighting over!
I know! They are so unlike my brother and me; we fought over senseless things. It’s nice to see today’s young people have math on their minds.
