End of the School Year

Dear Students,

I have enjoyed every single one of you.

Yes, I’m talking to my students from AY 2015-2016, but I’m also talking to all of my students ever.

I had my first student in 1989 when I trained to become a literacy tutor and worked with a girl in my school for whom English was not her first language.  In hindsight, I can see that was when I got hooked.

Since then I’ve had hundreds (or more?) of students – students I’ve tutored, residents on my building or on my floor, members of clubs I’ve sponsored, students in classes I’ve taught, students who worked with me in writing centers, students who worked for me in writing centers, significant others of students who have known me.

Please know I love you, I’m proud of you, and I’m a better person for having had the honor of becoming a part of your life, even if only for a short while.

Feeling grateful,
