Just because you have the freedom of speech doesn’t mean you should always say everything that’s on your mind.
You do not always need to justify your actions. You do not always have to prove your point. You do not always have to have the last word. You do not always need to have a response. More often than not, the best course of action is keeping your mouth shut and paying attention.
Choosing not to express yourself is not the same as abrogating your freedom of speech. Rather, it’s learning how best to exercise that freedom. And remember – you also have the right to remain silent.
