I’ve had food allergies my entire life, so not being able to eat something typically isn’t a big deal to me. As I’ve aged, I’ve gained more and more food allergies and sensitivities. Since I’ve been accustomed my entire life to avoiding foods, the only real change as I gained more allergies and sensitivities has been that my “foods avoid list” has grown longer. Every now and then, however, I get a hankering for something that I can’t have.
Today is one of those days.
Right now I could go for chicken planks, fries, and hushpuppies from Long John Silver’s. In addition to the gluten that would throw me totally out of whack, that meal is a heart attack waiting to happen. But it sounds so good.
What I ought to do is get myself some pho and call it a day. That stuff is good and good for me. At the very least it’s better than a fried and battered heart attack in a cardboard box thinning at the bottom from the grease seeping off of its contents.
Fried and battered in a cardboard box. Mmmmm.
